Waiting for redemption
Opening Prayer
Thank you, Father, for the countless ways your Word gives me the confidence I need to trust and follow you. Show me where I can share who you are and what you have done with others.
Read Psalm 130: 5-8
5 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. 6 I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. 7 Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. 8 He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.
Meditation
The Psalmist waited for God to rescue him. He waited with hope because God had promised in his Word to help him; he waited with anticipation, certain that the Lord would come. He was confident, not just for himself, but for his nation, that God would answer the waiting with unfailing love and full redemption. We, too, are waiting. We, too, need rescue and God’s loving forgiveness. We, too, can trust that God will keep his promises—he gave his only begotten son for us. Hallelujah!
