At All Times
Opening Prayer
“You thrill me, Lord, with all You have done for me! I sing for joy because of what You have done” (4).
Read Psalm 92
1 It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
2 proclaiming your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre
and the melody of the harp.
4 For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
5 How great are your works, Lord,
how profound your thoughts!
6 Senseless people do not know,
fools do not understand,
7 that though the wicked spring up like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they will be destroyed forever.
8 But you, Lord, are forever exalted.
9 For surely your enemies, Lord,
surely your enemies will perish;
all evildoers will be scattered.
10 You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox;
fine oils have been poured on me.
11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;
my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
13 planted in the house of the Lord,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
15 proclaiming, “The Lord is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

Reflect
When do you find it easiest to praise God?When I was a young student nurse, I fell head-over- heels in love with a young man in our youth group. He went off to Bible School, and I only saw him on weekends. How I lived for those times when we could be together! I thought about him day and night and couldn’t wait to spend time with him.
Do we have that same love for Jesus? The psalmist encourages us to proclaim our love for God in the morning and evening (2). He encourages us to talk and sing about God’s goodness and to praise him through musical instruments (and DVDs, mp3 players and YouTube!).
This psalm divides people into two categories: those who love God and those who don’t. We have the “fools” who do not understand God’s amazing goodness (6,9). On the other hand, there are those of us who rejoice in the Lord. We will be made strong (12,13). We will flourish and grow, and even during tough times God will
sustain us. When we grow old, we will continue to bear fruit until we go home to Jesus (14). So let’s be glad for all the Lord does for us at all times, both day and night. The more we praise him the more joy we will experience.

Spend a few minutes now rejoicing in the Lord’s goodness. Don’t wait until Sunday service to praise him.
