Reminder of the promise
Opening Prayer
Thank you O God, for the rainbow and the promise it represents. Thank you for the future and hope you promise me.
Read Genesis 6:5a,9,19; 9:11,16
5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth. 9 Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. 19 “You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you.” 11 “I will establish my covenant with you; never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 16 “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.
Meditation
God’s heart was filled with pain when he saw man’s wickedness and he destroyed everything he had created. Almost everything. Remembering his promises, he saved Noah and his family, and two of every creature he had made. Then he put a permanent reminder of his promise to never destroy the earth again, a beautiful rainbow.
