National Poetry Month
“The Goodness of God”
Call for Poems — April Is National Poetry Month!
Scripture Union-USA invites you to share your poetic voice this April. In celebration of National Poetry Month, we’ll be featuring original poetry from our community on our blog and social media channels.
This year’s theme is “The Goodness of God” — poems inspired by “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:8). We invite poems that reflect on God’s goodness, faithfulness, mercy, provision, and steadfast love. We also welcome general submissions reflecting themes of faith, love, grace, and the human experience.
This call is open to Scripture Union followers and supporters — seasoned poets and first-time writers alike. You do not need to be a published poet to participate. We’d love to hear from you.
Submission Guidelines
- Poems should be 40 lines or fewer.
- Each person may submit up to two poems (one per submission).
- Poems must be your original work and should not contain profanity or content that conflicts with Scripture Union-USA’s mission and values.
- Previously published poems are accepted as long as you retain the rights.
- All forms and styles welcome — free verse, rhyming, haiku, spoken word, sonnets, and more.
- Submit poems as typed text (no handwritten scans or image files).
- Submissions will be accepted from April 1 – April 27.
